Can Face Yoga Affect Your Aesthetic Injections?

Face yoga is buzzing throughout the skincare and wellness world. Here’s what one of our founders, Ashley Calvo PA-C uncovered when she researched the topic: 

“Face yoga is a series of facial exercises that are used to slim and tone the facial muscles for anti-aging. I found that there’s really not a lot of great evidence or any large clinical trials to support the efficacy. With that information, it’s really hard to draw a conclusion for a strong recommendation. 

Now, is it harmful? No, it’s not. Doing a series of facial exercises, just like anything else, that will improve oxygen and circulation to the tissues. Using your gua sha or doing a facial massage or some sort of lymphatic facial type treatment. 

What it does is it will increase the blood supply to the skin which temporarily will improve the appearance and circulation. But you know, in fact, we have a great blood supply at baseline, so any temporary change whether it be improving the texture and the tone from improving the circulation, or maybe removing some lymphatic tissue and reducing puffiness is just a short term benefit. What I have seen from a lot of the articles online and videos is that in order to get a noticeable result from doing these facial exercises, there’s a pretty big time commitment involved about 30 minutes per day for at least five days.”
