Do you feel like you could use a body or facial volume boost? Let’s talk about a podcast that our Aesthetics injectors, Ashley and Simona for BeautybyNuvoyou, did in January 2021 about Sculptra.
What is Sculptra?
- Sculptra, also known as POLY-L LACTIC ACID, is a synthetic biodegradable polymer that comprises the same material as dissolving medical sutures and is in injectable form.
- When Sculptra is injected into an area, it will stimulate your immune system to create more collagen, creating a fuller and more lifted appearance.
- Sculptra was originally designed to help HIV patients restore lost volume in their faces. An innovative method was found to use Sculptra for a broader range of treatments!
What can Sculptra be used for?
Shaping the buttocks!
- Sculptra can be injected in the buttocks for a “Sculptra BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift),” or “Nuvo Booty Sculpt”!
- It can fill contour areas and cellulite dimples to create roundness, perkiness and lifting of the butt.
- It is good for anyone who wants a “Victoria Secret curvy model” look with a toned, rounded butt. It will not create the “BBL bubble butt” look, which is not preferred by everyone.
- It is also recommended for individuals who exercise regularly, have more muscle mass and have less fat, which makes them not good candidates for a BBL procedure.
Shaping the face!
- Injecting Sculptra into the face will stimulate collagen production in the injected areas, as it was originally intended to do.
- Sculptra can help create contours and result in a fuller look where volume is lacking.
- Placing Sculptra into temples, cheeks and the jawline gives the injected areas definition and volume enhancement.
What makes Sculptra better than other treatments?
Sculptra vs. Surgical BBL
- Sculptra is non invasive, especially in comparison to a Brazilian Butt Lift.
- Surgery is not only expensive but carries risks and is time consuming.
- After a BBL, you cannot sit on your buttocks for 6 weeks and cannot exercise. The procedure also has a high risk for lasting, painful side effects and death.
- Treatments with Sculptra are much less painful and feel like little pinches of shots, similar to getting B12 injections.
- There is no downtime after Sculptra treatment. Our clients get their Sculptra injections and can go about the rest of their planned activities for the day!
Sculptra vs. Dermal Fillers
- The hyaluronic acid in dermal fillers can provide excellent volume where it is injected, but if it is over injected, it can result in a dough-like look.
- Hyaluronic acid filler lasts about a year and will be absorbed by the body during that time, leaving you needing to replace it each year.
- Sculptra does not take effect immediately like hyaluronic acid fillers—its full results are visible 3-6 months later. However, Sculptra can last up to 2-3 years. Collagen from injecting the Sculptra will continue to be produced for up to 5 years!
How Much Sculptra Do I Need?
- For the buttocks: 6-8 vials are needed over 2-4 sessions of treatment. The number of vials and sessions vary by the individual.
- For the face: 1 vial of Sculptra per decade of age is recommended. For a 60 year old, 6 vials would be needed.
