Love the smoothing appearance of Botox but don’t under why it can’t seem to last? We’ve rounded up five lifestyle habits that might be affecting your Botox’s longevity.
- You’re not considering treatments that promote collagen production.
Combine your botox with other treatments (like microneedling!) to maximize your collagen production and treat the underlying causes of aging.
- You’re getting too much sun.
Direct sunlight after your treatment drives blood circulation and causes blood vessels to disperse, limiting the effectiveness of Botox. Therefore, patients should wear a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen that provides UVA and UVB protection after their treatment. Sun also ages your skin!
- You’re neglecting your nutrition and skincare routine.
Avoid processed foods and sugary sweets which can impact a Botox patient’s physical health and skin. These foods should be avoided.
- You’re not doing regular checkups.
A follow-up and/or touch-up at 14 days and two months post-treatment is recommended to ensure the maximum dose is given within the treatment time.
- You touched the area too much post-treatment.
Avoid touching the treated area post-treatment. This prevents you from accidentally distributing the injected neurotoxin to other areas of your forehead, which could result in the partial paralysis of other facial muscles.
