What Ingredients Are Included In Myers’ Cocktail IV Therapy?

While the vitamin cocktail in the IV may vary per patient and provider, a standard IV therapy contains a series of vitamins and minerals the body needs in order to function optimally. These ingredients include:

  • Vitamins –  includes vitamin C, B-Complex vitamins, Vitamin B12
  • Calcium for bone formation and strength, and a healthy heart
  • Magnesium – to reduce fatigue, migraines, muscle spasms certain cardiovascular diseases
  • Zinc – for immune system regulation
  • Glutathione – for the immune system and the prevention of cancer, cystic fibrosis, HIV, and accelerated signs of aging

All ingredients for the cocktail are combined in an IV bag containing a normal saline solution. Health providers should evaluate one’s medical history and underlying conditions before administering the treatment. Providers may change the amount of certain vitamins and minerals to create a more personalized treatment for their patient’s specific needs and goals.

Who Can Benefit From A Vitamin Cocktail IV?

Those with weakened immune systems often receive regular infusions of this IV drip. However, because almost anyone can benefit from the high dose of antioxidants, nutrients, and other immune-boosting ingredients, other patients may include:

  • Those who experience chronically low energy or fatigue
  • Athletes
  • Those who are dehydrated and need intravenous hydration
  • Those experiencing an alcohol-induced hangover or withdrawal symptoms
  • Those with depression or anxiety
  • Those suffering from migraines
  • Cardiovascular patients
  • Asthma patients
  • Those with upper respiratory tract infections
  • Seasonal allergies
  • Those needing relief from sinus inflammation
  • Hypothyroid patients
  • Those with angina
  • Anyone experiencing hormonal imbalances (especially women)

Most patients should be able to tolerate Myers’ Cocktail IV Therapy. The frequency (once or twice a week vs. once or twice a month) will depend on the seriousness of the patient’s condition and their treatment plan.

If a patient is extremely fatigued or suffers from regular migraines, two treatments per week may be best to feel relief.  If prescribed to support immune function, occasional treatments every three to four months should be sufficient.

If a patient is suffering from a disease and needs the drip to feel comfortable, they may start with frequent doses and then reduce treatments to monthly usage after their condition improves.

What To Expect During the IV Drip

A Myers’ cocktail IV treatment is administered by IV. A licensed healthcare professional must be the one to provide the treatment.

Treatment will take 30-90 minutes, depending on the rate of infusion and the size of the IV bag. It shouldn’t be painful.

Once the patient is seated, a tunicate is placed on their upper arm. The entry point is disinfected prior to a small buttery catheter needle inserted into the vein.

The medical tape holds the needle in place, and the IV bag is connected. If the patient is a first-time user, the IV should be set to drip slowly, as this can help minimize side effects like:

  • Dizziness
  • Discomfort
  • Nausea

If the patient is prone to a negative reaction from the magnesium, the slower drip should help the body adjust to the infusion.
