What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is unlike any other antioxidant. Most antioxidants neutralize free radicals. However, they actually rely on a glutathione-dependent detox process to remove the toxins from the body. Below is a simplified process of the detoxification function and process of glutathione.

1. Toxins are identified and metabolized into a form the body can more easily handle
2. Glutathione-related enzymes complete the breakdown and excretion of the toxins via the liver or kidneys
3. At the end of the process, the body then recycles glutathione and uses it to recycle other antioxidants like vitamins C and E

Why is Glutathione important?
